The Elders
Take a group of Kansas City musicians with a passion for Celtic music, an Irishman with a love of all things American, and you get a cross-pollination of elements that is high octane and progressive, yet rooted in tradition. What they have come to discover is something unaffected by fads, trends and the giant maw of mind-numbing commercialism. Some call it arsekickin music from the heartland. They're coming back for the 2013 Missouri River Irish Fest, and we were proud to feature them!

Rusty Nail
Formed in St. Louis, Missouri in the Winter of 2005, Rusty Nail has been working to build on the rich history and sound of contemporary Irish music and folk music since the very first day. The band consists of two “refugees”, from the late Fredericks Music Lounge (Open Mic Night Hootenany), that got together with a guitarist with a background in Metal and a classically trained violinist to write new material and master an impressive repertoire of traditional drinking songs, folk ballads and pirate sea chanteys. These songs each tell stories and paint pictures for the audience to be invited into the show. The name Rusty Nail was taken from a St. Louis version of a cocktail, mixing Irish whiskey (instead of Scotch) and Drambuie. It was clear to each of us that the “drink fueled party” was the venue we wished to reside. Taking influence from traditional acts such as the Clancy Brothers and The Dubliners, as well as the modern efforts of our heroes The Pogues, The Tossers and Flogging Molly, Rusty Nail’s sound was created through the combination of these Irish and Folk Rock roots. Combining traditional instrumentation of mandolin, fiddle, dulcimer, accordion, tin whistle and banjo with guitar, the sound was authentic and inspired. By early 2008 Rusty Nail new that in order to fully realize the goal of the complete rock show, Drums and Bass were needed. By adding the new kick-ass rhythm section, Rusty Nail became complete and the band that each of us not only wanted to be in, but would also love to come and see in a pub or music venue! Our live shows are fueled with whiskey and beer in perfect harmony with the music and sounds that we love. By cosmic intervention, the atmosphere created is the perfect recipe for a good time! It is our sincere hope that audiences leave our shows fully entertained and excited for the next party!
