* * * IMPORTANT DRIVING INFORMATION! * * *

PLEASE LOOK FOR ALTERNATIVE ROUTES COMING TO THE FESTIVAL!!

Thursday, April 30 -- the contractor for the Fifth Street Gateway Project will begin removing the two right lanes of southbound Fifth Street between Boone's Lick Road and Bass Pro Drive.

This will allow only one through lane at the Fifth Street intersection with Bass Pro/Ameristar Blvd. This closure is expected to last about a month so that the contractor can remove the existing roadway, pour back the new lanes, and give the concrete time to reach strength requirements.

This closure has the potential to have a significant impact on southbound traffic, possibly causing delays all the way up to First Capitol Drive, especially during the afternoon rush hour timeframe.

Additionally, the night work at Fifth Street and First Capitol Drive continues. It is hoped that the work will be completed this week and we will not need to go into next week.  The City's department of Public Works will provide further updates on that progress as it becomes available.

In the near future, we will also see the closing of Boone's Lick Road on the west side of Fifth Street, so that part of the intersection can be completely removed and replaced. Further details on that front will be provided as related timeframes are more definitive.

Many thanks for your continued patience during this ongoing enhancement project.  Please continue to use caution when driving through the construction zone.

Additionally, further details will be included in our weekly edition of City eNews, which is distributed on Friday afternoons. If you are not currently receiving our weekly eNewsletter, you can easily sign up by sending an email to enews@stcharlescitymo.gov.

NOTE:  Please feel free to forward this email update to anyone who may have a need to know, and thanks!
